I love stand-up comedy. When it comes to de-stressing after a hard day, laughter really is the best tonic.
You can find plenty to laugh at on YouTube, sure, but sometimes it's nice to be in the hands of a pro. Which brings us to today's deal, which isn't exactly tech-related but does require a computer to get.
For the next 12 days, the Humble Comedy Bundle lets you name your own price for four stand-up comedy acts. And if you beat the average purchase price, currently $8.49, make that seven acts.
As with Humble's software bundles, you simply decide how much you want to pay and how to split the money among the artists, two worthwhile charities, and the Humble folks. Then you get DRM-free material, which in this case consists of either audio or video. (One of the bonus items includes both.) You can download everything, but for the videos you also have the option of streaming.
So, who's performing? The name-your-price roster includes Maria Bamford (perhaps best known for her recent stint on "Arrested Development," season 4), Hannibal Buress, Jim Norton, and Tig Notaro.
Beat the average and you'll get two shows from Patrice O'Neal and one from Louis CK. (The latter is the one that includes both audio and video.)
Needless to say, a lot of the material here is NSFW, and definitely not suitable for children. But if you like edgy comedy and want to score a huge helping of it on the cheap, this is a pretty amazing deal.
While you're at it, check out Comedy Specials, which catalogs $5 concerts from a variety of comedians (including Aziz Ansari and Jim Gaffigan), and Comedy Central's new Stand Up|Direct, another great source of $5 sets.
Who's your favorite stand-up comedian working today?
Bonus deal: Need a new monitor? A 22-inch LCD will typically run you $129-149, but for a limited time, TigerDirect has the Gateway KX2153bd 22-inch LED monitor for $99.99, plus around $7 for shipping. It's a 1080p monitor with DVI and VGA inputs, a three-year warranty, and five-star user reviews across the board (though currently only four users are sitting on that board).
